“Luminiscent Waters” is an installation that measures 10 x 10 x 8 feet, created within an organic circle shape. On three of its sides, the creation relies on wooden structures with island shapes.   There are two large island-form wooden structures accompanied by seven small wood structures arranged within, again, a grouping of island pattern.  These structures “hang” around an organic circle-like component covered with sand within the size of 10 x 10 feet. Neon lights are also placed on the sand, continuing the flow of light presented on the large structures above.  The circular-shaped sand surface has a small pond inside with water flowing inside the basin, adding sound to this installation. Seven boulders are placed around the sand and serve as a place where viewers can sit and experience the landscape of “Luminiscent Waters.”  The two hanging pieces, with the shape of islands, feature neon lights clipped onto them. Their surface has been painted with soft turquoise and blue color pigments.

I am in a search for a landscape that condenses nature, dreams and unpredictable moments. Waters that glow are part of my exploration. Once, I heard of a suchself-lit waters in Vieques (Puerto Rico).Later, I learned ofthe bioluminescent waves off the coast of California. Nature teaches us about one of her chemical tricks. Bioluminescence: a chemical reaction where luciferase, an enzyme, reacts with oxygen, thereby creating light. What a miracle! I refer to that instant of an “oh moment” in "LuminescentWaters." The very relationships between basic elements of nature: water, light, and even the supporting structure of sand can create this unique -- and lucent -- situation.
