Water Dreams

Rivers and oceans inspire my work. It refers to water giving us pleasure as well as connections. Old civilizations built ports by the rivers to connect one city with another. Rivers allowed commerce and connections between communities

My inspiration draws from ancient civilizations that navigated waters with primitive tools, treating navigation as art, spirituality, and science. They used extensive knowledge of the night sky to guide their journeys, as evidenced by Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki raft. This history highlights our connection to water and its sacredness. In my installation, viewers can sit inside a raft and row, with a video displaying river waves in front and a rear view offering an eye-level journey from the East River to the Hudson River. This experience invites respect for water as the source of all life.

The other side of the concept of dreaming waters is that we must be aware that water is not just essential, but also sacred. We must respect and take care of it, as it is the source of all life.

My work is about connecting with the community and bringing art to a place where people can participate and see art as part of their reality. Installation @ARTCRAWL HARLEM
