Romance in the Park

Romance in the Garden is an installation that alludes to encounters with love and romance—an ode to the relationships that fill us with happiness, excitement, and an overwhelming sense of joy. This is the kind of elated love that makes you feel on top of the world.

Romance in the Garden provides a serene setting within the city where relationships and intimacy can flourish. The circle of pergolas is thoughtfully designed to complement the human scale, forming a sanctuary of safety and quietude amidst the city's bustle. Within this space, we meet others, revisit memories, and create new experiences together. The park becomes a living tapestry of encounters, where every path and corner holds the potential for moments of beauty and connection.

As we step into the park, our hurried pace slows and begins to harmonize with nature’s rhythm. The urban rush gradually gives way as we approach the pergolas, enveloped by the gentle embrace of trees and grass. This connection to nature evokes hope, encouraging us to hold hands, share stories, and open ourselves to deeper relationships.

The Harlem Sculpture Garden will enable me to develop my art further, forging connections between the community and nature. The pergolas will help build enduring memories, reminding us that even in the heart of the city, spaces for intimacy and human connection can flourish. Installation sponsored by West Harlem Sculpture Garden: Savona McClain and @ARTCRAWL HARLEM, Ulysses Williams. April 2025- September 2025
